RYA News
We are very sorry for the sudden notice and regret to inform everyone that after almost 15 years teaching at BodyPlant the Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido (RYA) dojo will stop holding classes at this venue effective immediately.
The dojo will close early this year with no further classes in 2015.
We want to continue to provide the best quality Yoshinkan Aikido instruction to our students so as part of this transition RYA is planning next year’s training schedule. Most likely training will be held at the Minato Sports Center and the Hikawa dojo when available. New training times will be sent out by email and posted on the website in the New Year.
We regret any inconvenience that this may cause.
The RYA.
Please note that we are making some significant changes to the 2015 Senshusei Alumni Reunion Event.
Unfortunately we have not had the response from the senshusei alumni that we had hoped for. We were also unable to secure any honbu dojo instructors for the gasshuku in Katsuura on the Tuesday.
For these reasons we have found it necessary to scale back the event (and the pricing!) in order to visit dojos in Tokyo as a group and to enjoy each others company during the week before the embu
Please register in advance as space is sometimes limited!
We have changed the payment system because the pricing has decreased and we no longer have to pay for venues in advance.
We now ask that you pay for yourselves during the event following the budget provided below.
For those of you who have indicated that you would like to attend, but that the price was a little out of reach, we hope that you will be able to reconsider.
For those of you who have already transferred your event fees, we will make sure that it is refunded to you when you arrive in Tokyo.

The RYA dojo would like to once again thank the Tokyo Canadian Club for allowing us to give a demonstration of Yoshinkan Aikido at the TCC annual BBQ on May 23rd.
We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed sharing our Aikido with TCC members and friends.
We would like to send a special thanks to Shelley Bearse for organizing our participation and making sure the weather cooperated.
Thank you Shelley and the TCC!

Congratulations to the RYA dojo for updating their website. The new website was publicly launched on January 18, 2014.
Welcome back to the Dojo and Welcome to 2014!!!
We hope that everyone had a great and festive holiday season and are ready to jump into 2014! We're looking forward to training with you again this year and to start it off...we have KAGAMI BIRAKI on Sunday, January 19th!
The RYA Kagami Biraki will be held this year on Sunday, January 19th starting at 09:00. We invite all students and friends and family of students to come and join us at the Roppongi dojo for this important New Year celebration.
"Kagami Biraki" signifies the unveiling, or rather "breaking out," of the mirror (kagami - mirror, biraki - breaking out). The mirror, of course, stands for the reflection of our true nature, the real self. Our hope is that with each new year, the reflection will become truer to the original.
There will be a short demonstration by RYA instructors, followed by an open class and then sharing of mochi treats.
09:00 Doors Open
09:30 Introduction and Demonstration by RYA instructors
09:50 Warm-ups (open class for students, friends and family)
10:00 Open Class (students/friends/family)
10:50 Class Ends
11:00 Mochi Sharing
12:15 Finish
12:30 Doors Close
We ask that you invite your friends and family to come and join us for Kagami Biraki and also to join in the open class.
Please let us know how many people you will be bringing (including yourself) so that we can prepare refreshments.
Thank you!
Osu!
